Local 1782 Santa Fe County Employees have successfully completed their
negotiations. David Lucero, Local President reports one outstanding accomplishment
- a retroactive to 2003 lump sum agreement and payout of over $23,000
to certain employees that
had
been denied night differential pay for work performed over the course
of the last several years. Another solid job by Staff Rep/Organizer

claims

Trainings, including steward trainings and safety trainings

Udall for United States Senate and Martin Heinrich
for New Mexico’s First Congressional District because both are strong,

Nadra Floyd Memorial Scholarship
A $2,000 renewable scholarship for AFSCME members and staff who would like to attend the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Joey Parisi Scholarship
Available to a staff person or local officer who is a full-time or release-time AFSCME organizer, this scholarship covers tuition to the National Labor College.
AFSCME Family Scholarship
Offers a $2,000 renewable scholarship to 10 high school seniors each year.
Jerry Clark Memorial Scholarship
A collegiate scholarship for juniors and seniors who major in political science; it includes a summer internship in the AFSCME Political Action Department in Washington, D.C.

State the grievance in a concise description of the basic facts and
information
Don't include statements of personal opinion
Don't include your evidence or arguments in the case - save those
for when you meet with management
List any and all management violations of the contract, work rules,
etc., which apply; after you list specific contract articles, you may want
to include a phrase such as "and all other applicable sections of the
contract." This allows the chance to expand your arguments should additional
details become known at a later time.
Clearly state the desired remedy (that is, exactly what the grievance
and/or the union want as a solution to the problem); make sure you ask the
grievant what he/she wants before writing the remedy.
